There is a reason my friends called me Simple Cyd! I don’t have much of a story, thus the “simple!” I met Mary when we were in High School through mutual friends. We attended different schools, but those small Catholic schools seem to gel together.

I was always in awe of Mary’s big family. They were an inspiration and so friendly! You could feel the love when you stepped through the front door. Through all the years, Mary has never lost this quality. What a perfect match when she met and married Kevin, who had an equally big heart and caring soul. They were truly a match made in heaven! When they moved into 452 Leyden, Mary would have a few of us come for lunch with toddlers and preschool children in tow. We have such fond memories of time spent in that beautiful home. Mary made split pea soup for us around St Patrick’s Day that was so delicious! She shared the recipe with me and whenever I make it, I think of the lovely afternoons at 452!
When my children, Jenna, Jason and Julie, were small, I’d take them to the Denver Zoo and we would see Kevin there by the train. My son Jason thought Kevin was “the coolest guy ever” and he really was! Kevin interacted with the kiddos as though they were all longtime buddies, making them all feel so special. What a great quality in a man!
Thank you for all the sweet memories, Kevin (RIP) and Mary. Love you both.
