In April, SSA Group (SSA) (formerly known as KM Concessions, Inc) worked with partner The National Western Complex alongside the City of Denver and Colorado Coalition for the Homeless to open emergency homeless shelters for Denver residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. The National Western Complex allows for up to 700 men and 300 women to be housed and about 2,500 people receiving meals each day – 994 one night for dinner at National Western! PepsiCo has also pitched in by providing 100% of the soda/lemonade and drinking cups since day one. SSA has provided food service for The National Western Complex for almost 50 years and when asked to help support Denver’s local community by providing culinary services for the homeless during this difficult time, we were proud to do our part to take care of our neighbors.
“We’ve always known the incredible dedication of the SSA organization” said Kyle Baun, VP of Events and Ticketing at the National Western Complex. “It comes as no surprise they have stepped up to provide meals for those in need during this unprecedented time”.
Due to social distancing precautions, SSA is utilizing our partner, Denver Mart’s kitchen to prepare all meals. Denver Mart’s kitchen allows for plenty of space for our chefs and kitchen staff to prepare large quantities of meals efficiently and safely.
“When SSA first came to me to see if they could utilize the kitchen facilities at Denver Mart, we jumped at the opportunity to help our community during these trying times.” Todd Herrick – Denver Mart
SSA appreciates our great partners that are able to come together during a time of need to provide safety and nourishment to the Denver homeless population.
